The Dog-Lovers Shopping Guide to San Luis Obispo
September 28, 2019
Beach frolics aside, our #1 favorite dog-friendly activity in Virginia is a visit to Norfolk Botanical Gardens so I am thrilled to announce that instead of the former one day a year invitation, Fido Sundays are extending to EVERY SUNDAY IN JULY & AUGUST 2017!!!!! Members dogs go free and the not-yet-members rate is $5 per dog.
Here we bring you a taste of the splendor that awaits as you explore all 175 acres…
Stumbling upon majestic statues is like finding hidden treasure amid the hydrangeas.
There are so many areas to explore – the Butterfly Garden, Fern Glade, Mirror Lake… There’s even a pop-up leash-free dog park set beneath shady boughs of the Enchanted Forest. As you can tell from the image at the top of the page, the area that stopped us in our tracks was the lion fountain water feature. It feels like something from a fairytale – I wouldn’t be surprised to see a glass carriage trundling by…
From the precision beauty of the Japanese Garden we wend around the 3,000 blooms in the Bicentennial Rose Garden, reveling in the vibrancy of colors and scents. And then Bodie catches a waft of the special dog day food trucks, one of which offers Milk Bone Pupcakes!
One lick of the peanut butter frosting and he falls into a glassy-eyed trance…
In conclusion: Dogs galore in an idyllic setting – well worth adding to your calendar.
